This Privacy Policy explains how Bharat Tea Distribution Private Limited ("we", "us", or "our"), which operates the Paal Tea brand, collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you visit this website, contact us, or buy from one of our stores in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

We are the Data Fiduciary for the information described here, and we handle it in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them. By using this website or writing to us, you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site or share your details with us.

2. Information we collect

• Contact form details — the name, email address and phone number you enter in the contact form on this website, along with the message you write in the "How can we help?" field.
• Direct enquiries — the details you share when you email us at hello@btea.in, call or message us on +91 97908 42134, reach us on WhatsApp, or message us on our social media pages.
• Order and event details — for bulk orders and event catering, the delivery address, date, quantity, billing details and any tax identifiers we are required to record on an invoice.
• In-store interactions — if you buy at one of our outlets, the transaction record for that purchase. Payments made by card or UPI are processed by our payment partner; we do not receive or store your full card number, UPI PIN or banking credentials.
• Website usage data — basic technical information your browser sends automatically, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. We use this in aggregated, anonymised form to keep the site working well.
• Cookies — a small set of cookies for session handling, remembering your cookie preference, and aggregated page-view counts. These are described in full in our Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for and do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data such as financial account credentials, health information or biometric data through this website. Please do not send such information to us.

We process your information on the basis of the consent you give when you submit the contact form or reach out to us, and, where applicable, for the legitimate uses permitted under law, such as meeting a legal obligation. We do not use your contact details to send marketing messages unless you have asked us to.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only in these situations:

• Service providers — hosting, email, payment processing and similar providers who help us run this website and our business. They may access your information only to perform these services for us, and are required to keep it confidential.

This website loads fonts, images and other assets from third-party providers, and links to Google Maps for store directions as well as to our WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and X pages. When you click through to these services, or when your browser loads their assets, they may receive your IP address and set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. We do not control those services, and we are not responsible for their practices. Please read their policies before sharing information with them.

6. Retention

We keep your personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was collected for. Contact form submissions and enquiries are retained while we deal with your request and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you follow up. Order, invoice and accounting records are retained for the periods required under tax and company law. After that, we delete the information or anonymise it so it can no longer identify you.

7. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure and alteration. These include access controls, encryption of data in transit, and limiting access to staff who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a personal data breach occurs, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as required by law.
